The Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR) is a decade-long integrated research programme initiated in late-2008 by the International Council for Science (ICSU), the International Social Science Council (ISSC), and the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) – the Co-Sponsors. Following the Science Plan (ICSU 2008), initial activities have focused on better understanding of the scientific gaps and strengths and on establishing partnerships with appropriate existing international programmes. The IRDR’s first annual report highlights these activities and a description of the activities and an indication of the main outcomes.
