  • Developing effective warning systems,
  • Improving response and recovery from events,
  • Creating resilient communities through integrating science into practice.

Target audience are: emergency managers, planners, risk assessors, asset and utility managers, natural hazards researchers, and scientists.

The conference will be held at Te Papa, Wellington, New Zealand on 23-24 September 2014. Some workshops will be at nearby locations to be advised.

In conjunction with the IRDR International Centre of Excellence: Community Resilience for the Wellington Region, this workshop will explore inter and across agency knowledge sharing for building community resilience.

In particular, how do we ensure that lessons from past disasters in one region are implemented into future pre disaster recovery plans in other regions?

This workshop aims to identify the methods, tools, advantages, and challenges to developing collective knowledge across practitioners and researchers for future preparedness, and ways in which this knowledge can be effectively integrated into approaches including the Wellington Region’s Community Resilience Strategy.
