Position Title: Department Head, Disaster Risk Assessment and Monitoring (DRAM)

The Department Head-DRAM reports to the Director in charge of the department and is a member of the Executive Committee of ADPC. He/She will be responsible for an overall management of the department, including program/project management, department strategy development, technical resource inputs, and management of staff in the respective department. Note: It is not the intent of this Position Description to cover every aspect of the position requirements, rather to highlight the most important areas of personal and joint responsibility.

The Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), established in 1986, is a regional non-profit foundation with headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand supporting the advancement of safer communities and sustainable development, through implementing programs that reduce the impact of disasters upon countries and communities in Asia and the Pacific. The primary geographical focus of ADPC’s activities is Asia with the South, South East and East Asia being the primary sub-regions. ADPC has more than 26 years of working experience in Asia along with the national and local Government of its charter member countries as well as countries of the Regional Consultative Committee (RCC) on Disaster Management. The 29th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was held on 11-24 November 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan bringing together leaders of states and/or their representatives from about 200 countries. The outcome of the conference was a new finance goal “to help countries to protect their people and economies against climate disasters and share in the vast benefits of the clean energy boom”.
