3rd UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction draft programme published

A draft programme for the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction to be held from 14 to 18 March 2015 in Sendai City, Miyagi, Japan is now available.

This draft programme gives a first glance of what will happen during the World Conference. It will be updated as the conference date approaches (for the most up-to-date draft programme, always visit the conference webpages: http://www.wcdrr.org).

IRDR, ICSU and other partners from the Science and Technology Major Group are involved in a number of sessions on applying science and technology for disaster risk reduction. IRDR and ICSU are promoting an approach that would advance the use of evidence for better disaster risk management and for building resilience in communities.

The IRDR International Young Scientists Forum (IYSF) 2026 is a three-day international forum organized by IRDR and mainly hosted by IRDR IPO and IRDR ICoE Coherence. The forum brings early career researchers together to advance disaster risk science and its application to policy and practice in support of the Sendai Framework. Its outputs will assess the contribution of science to Sendai Framework implementation and generate forward-looking insights to inform the post-2030 disaster risk reduction agenda.
