SC Chair and Professor David Johnston gave an overview of the IRDR Programme in a Union Symposium on Future Earth and Sustainability.

Professor Gordon McBean, a former SC Chair and now President of ICSU presented the following day on the importance of integrated science and SC member and Dr. Kuniyoshi Takeuchi chaired the meeting of the IUGG GeoRisk Commission, which resolved to work closely with IRDR and link IRDR activities across the IUGG associations. At the IUGG Council meeting Dr. Hursh Gupta was appointed as the IUGG liaison to IRDR. IRDR-ISSC RIA Fellow, Dr. Emma Hudson-Doyle presented in several sessions on communicating uncertainty in warnings about future volcanic eruptions (IAVCEI programme).

The conference budget fully or partly supported the attendance of 619 participants, mainly young scientists from countries of need.
