Art and Disaster: new issue of Natural Hazard Observer
10 August 2015

Art in the face of disaster is the topic of the July 2015 issue of the Natural Hazards Observer published by the Natural Hazards Center in Boulder, Colorado, U.S. The NHC is the IRDR National Committee for the United States of America and is funded largely through a National Science Foundation grant and supplemented by contributions from a consortium of federal agencies and nonprofit organizations dedicated to reducing vulnerability to disasters.

The special issue collects a number of novel articles and essays that review experiences with art as a form of creative expression, as a pathway to healing, and as a means for contributing to community.

The Natural Hazards Observer covers disaster issues, recent disaster management and education programs, hazards research, political and policy developments, resources and Web sites, upcoming conferences, and recent publications.
