The 2024 International Youth Innovation SDGs Debate Summit(North China)Concluded Successfully

The Grand Final of the 2024 International Youth Innovation SDGs Debate Summit in the North China Region was successfully held at the East Lake International Center, the cluster for the headquarters of international science and technology organizations in Beijing, 9 June 2024. The theme of this event is “Green Resonance, Innovative Future”, focusing on the SDG13 “Climate Action” and SDG15 “Life on Land”. Through youth innovation debates, keynote speeches, roundtable discussions and other forms, it gathers the wisdom and strength of global youth to respond to climate change, protect biodiversity, and jointly protect the beautiful home and common future of mankind.

At the Summit site, stakeholders in sustainable development, including government representatives, youth delegates, media, NGOs, and experts, gathered to discuss and collaborate on topics such as green development, disaster response actions, and the role of youth. The participating teams had a fierce competition. Finally, Renmin University of China won the championship, Tianjin Normal University secured the runner-up position, and the joint team from the University of International Business and Economics, China Agricultural University, and Beijing Jiaotong University earned third place.

The event was organized by Young Sustainable Impact China, PeriodPride, and the Executive Committee of International Youth Innovation SDGs Debate Summit, with co-organization by Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR) and the Horizon Global Youth Development Program, and technical support from the Chinese National Committee for UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Programme.

The IRDR Young Scientists Programme is committed to empowering youth, stimulating their awareness of participating in the international disaster risk reduction field, providing them with a creative platform, and cultivating powerful young talents to contribute to international sustainable development.
