Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR), in cooperation with Beijing Normal University (BNU) , is pleased to announce the call for applications for the 2026 Summer School on China's Governance and Development.
Held from July 4–20, 2026, in Beijing, China, this fully funded program offers international students and young scholars an immersive academic and field-based experience to explore China's policy design, urban transformation, and global role.
Program Highlights
Fully Funded: The program covers tuition, accommodation, and meals. A merit scholarship (USD 500–1,000 travel stipend) will be awarded to the top 3–5 applicants post-program.
Core Curriculum: Study Chinese politics, public policy, global governance (SDGs & Belt and Road), and research methods with distinguished experts.
Hands-on Field Research: Conduct interviews and site visits focusing on urban/rural community governance and the Beijing Sub-center (Tongzhou) planning.
Global Network: Develop your own research project alongside international peers.
Eligibility
At least 18 years old.
Current undergraduate, graduate student, or recent graduate.
Strong interest in China studies.
English proficiency is required.
