A presentation was also given by the Vice-Chair of UNISDR’s Science and Technology Advisory Group, Virginia Murray, who has been playing a critical role in advancing the idea of an international scientific advisory mechanism as member of the ICSU-led Science and Technology Major Group in the preparation of the World Conference on DRR. Also, some of the country’s best research work of young scientists in the field received awards sponsored by the national umbrella organization of the insurance industry.

The German Committee for Disaster Reduction (DKKV) is the officially nominated and confirmed National Platform for Disaster Reduction within the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN/ISDR) in Germany. DKKV has been nominated and confirmed by IRDR Science Committee (SC) as the IRDR National Committee for Germany in November 2010.
