Interviewing Chris Field and Steve Sparks on disaster risk reduction
26 March 2015

“Road to Paris”, a science communication platform that is hosted by IRDR co-sponsor ICSU (“where science, policy and economics meet on our way to the 2015 climate conference in Paris”) recently published two interviews with key members of the scientific community present at the 3rd WCDRR in Sendai.

UntitledStephen Sparks from the University of Bristol/UK and member of the original team that prepared the Science Plan for IRDR, is among the top-cited volcanologists. In 2015 he received the Vetlesen Prize, which is considered the Nobel prize of the Earth Sciences, for work that has resulted in a “clearer understanding of the Earth, its history, or its relations to the universe”.
