08 August 2012

Dear Colleagues, Partners and Collaborators,

Closing Date for Application for the Regional Workshop on Disaster Risk Management in Latin America and the Caribbean: Towards a project plan for integrating science and risk management for the region has been extended until August 13th, 2012.

Proposal for Participation

The workshop aims to bring multiple disciplines together, build scientific capacity, and reach to policy makers in Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries integrating scientific findings and the work of risk managers to reduce risk related to environmental hazards and disasters. Also young scientists from the LAC region will be invited to the workshop as a learning experience and to contribute to the discussions. The expected outcome of this workshop are recommendations for a plan of action on disaster risk reduction for the region. The plan will have the form of a project proposal to be submitted to potential funding agencies. The workshop is thus meant to be a scoping activity to coordinate future activities in research and policy making on disaster risk reduction in Latin America and the Caribbean.
