The 27th IRDR Scientific Committee Meeting set the first action plan for IRDR Phase II

The 27th meeting of Integrated Research on Disaster Risk Scientific Committee (IRDR SC27) was organised by IRDR International Programme Office (IPO) on 21 Oct and 24 Oct. During between, the members of IRDR SC attended the IRDR 2024 International Conference (22-23 Oct) and brought the discussions to IRDR SC27. 

With the newly established IRDR Scientific Committee, this Scientific Committee Meeting is the first SC meeting in IRDR new phase to officially enable the full operation of IRDR Phase II.  The SC members discussed on the action plan for 2025-2027 and the prority research areas identified by IRDR community. The strategies of communication and the empowerment of young scientists were also highlighted. 

ISC and UNDRR, the co-sponsors of IRDR, considered this meeting of great importance. Dr. Salvatore Aricò, CEO of ISC, and Mr. Marco Toscano-Rivalta, Chief of UNDRR Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, attended the meeting and provided overall guidance. The IRDR ex-officios  Anne-Sophie Stevance, Head of ISC Global Science Policy Unit, and Jenty Kirsh-Wood, Head of the Global Risk Analysis and Reporting Section, emphasized the deliverables on science-policy interface and the partnerships with UNDRR regional STAGs.

The meeting adopted the IRDR Action Plan 2025-2027, and the revised Terms of Reference of IRDR National Committees, International Centres of Excellene and Young Scientists Programme.  The documents will be disseminated in IRDR community. IRDR IPO will facilitate the actions and the deliverables.
