IRDR Publications and Activities for GP2025

The Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction is the main global forum to assess and discuss progress on the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. The eighth session of the Global Platform (GP2025) will be organized and convened by the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) from 2 to 6 June 2025, in Geneva, Switzerland, hosted by the Government of Switzerland. The event will be co-chaired by the Government of Switzerland and UNDRR. The Theme of the GP2025 is "Every Day Counts, Act for Resilience Today."

The conference will co-organized by IRDR and China-Pakistan Joint Research Center on Earth Sciences during 19–20 October 2025 in Beijing, China. Under the theme “Climate Change and Disaster Risk”, the conference will delve into critical topics such as the disaster effects of climate change, the formation and mechanisms of natural hazards, and innovative technologies for disaster risk prevention and mitigation.

Professor Emily Ying Yang Chan, Director of IRDR CCOUC, and her team visited IRDR IPO on May 27, 2025. During the visit, discussion focused on fostering collaboration, and developing joint initiatives to strengthen DRR education and implementation in the field of health emergencies.
