Social Science Matters: Strengthening the voice and contributions of the social sciences and humanities in sustainable development policy
The project will explore how the role and visibility of the social sciences and humanities can be enhanced in the current sustainability policy landscape at national and multilateral levels and how ISC Members can collaborate, exchange ideas, lessons and capacities more effectively in this area. Interested individuals from within the ISC membership are invited to express their interest in serving on the Steering Group by completing the online nomination form by 2 July.

The Priority Actions to Enhance Readiness for Resilient Recovery were officially launched at the World Resilient Recovery Conference (WRRC) on 3 June 2025. They are designed to take joined action to accelerate the implementation of Priority Action 4 of the Sendai Framework. IRDR experts participated in the Conference as the panelists.

The conference will co-organized by IRDR and China-Pakistan Joint Research Center on Earth Sciences during 19–20 October 2025 in Beijing, China. Under the theme “Climate Change and Disaster Risk”, the conference will delve into critical topics such as the disaster effects of climate change, the formation and mechanisms of natural hazards, and innovative technologies for disaster risk prevention and mitigation.
