During the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction 2025 (GP2025), IRDR and the U-INSPIRE Alliance convened an inspiring Innovation Platform, spotlighting the work of youth and young professionals (YYP) from across the globe. This platform provided an opportunity for YYP to share their innovations to address the pressing challenges of disaster risk reduction (DRR). We hope that through this platform, the global YYP can be seen at a global stage and most importantly, contribute to the global dialogue, shape the future of DRR, and drive meaningful change in preventing disasters exposure, reducing vulnerability and building resilient communities.
IRDR and U-INSPIRE Alliance initiated a global call for contributions to this platform. After the review, the following innovations were selected and presented during the GP2025.
To further support this innovation platform, IRDR and U-INSPIRE Alliance organised two IRDR Young Scientists Lumos: 1) From Data to Action, and 2) Localization of the Global Agenda. In these two webinars, seven young scientists provided their innovations. All their innovations were also presented during the GP2025.
The following are the achievements contributed by young scientists to this Innovation Lab.
