The 5th International Forum on Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (FBAS 2025) was held in Beijing from 6–8 September 2025, under the theme “Digital Intelligence Driving Sustainable Development: The 10th Anniversary of the 2030 Agenda.” Organized by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (CBAS), and supported by UN agencies and international partners, the forum convened scientists, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore how digital innovation can accelerate progress toward the SDGs. Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR) attended the forum as one of the supporting organizers.

In Session B4: Data and AI for Disaster Risk Reduction, Executive Director of IRDR, Prof. Yang Saini, presented IRDR efforts on the application of big data and artificial intelligence in enhancing early warning systems, risk assessments, and resilience strategies. Prof. Yang emphasized the importance of open science and data sharing, citing platforms like GDDAT as essential tools for collaborative research. Prof. Yang also attended the panel discussions of Session S5: International Collaboration on Water and Disasters:Research, Education and Pathways to Sustainable Development.

Through these contributions, IRDR reinforced its commitment to transdisciplinary, data-driven approaches to DRR, supporting global efforts to achieve the SDGs through innovation, collaboration, and international cooperation
