A delegation headed by Prof. Ronald Woodman, who is the President of the Peruvian Academy of Sciences, visited RADI on August 18.

The delegation visited the demonstration hall of Digital Earth science platform, the Airborne Remote Sensing Center and remote sensing satellite operation & management system, as well as the international S&T platforms hosted by RADI, including the CAS-TWAS Centre of Excellence on Space Science for Disaster Mitigation (SDIM), the International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage (HIST) under UNESCO, the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE), as well as the International Program Office for the Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR IPO).

After the visit, the both sides held talks. RADI Deputy Director LIU Jianbo welcomed the delegation, and the representative of RADI gave a brief introduction to the researches, operation and international operation of RADI. Woodman introduced the applications of space technologies in Peru and expressed his concerns about the application of space technologies, especially SAR technology, in the field of prevention and reduction of natural disasters including earthquake and avalanche. The both sides made discussions on how to carry out bilateral communication and cooperation as well as talent development and training, and made further discussions on the ways of cooperation.  Source: RADI/CAS
