Due to its disaster-prone location, it is imperative that ASEAN is equipped with the necessary tools to inform its disaster risk management policies. Projects that inform ASEAN disaster risk management policy-making processes can decrease the effects of extreme climate events.

The ASDMP project seeks to promote “scientific and technical research programmes that study the causes and consequences of disasters and facilitate activities that promote and support the development of the means, methods, techniques, and equipment for disaster management, particularly in risk reduction”. This project is funded by the Government of Korea through the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund, and is currently being implemented by the APCC and the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance (AHA Centre).

The ASDMP project will run for two years from January 2016 to December 2017.

ASDMP is currently conducting an online survey in the ASEAN region, to get an opinion and suggestion in establishing a Science-Based Disaster Management Platform and Research Road-map on Disaster Management Issues in ASEAN. Kindly proceed to the online survey by clicking this LINK. Feel free to disseminate to other colleagues.

It will be greatly appreciated if you could complete the survey before 30 June 2017.
