As part of its commitment to enhancing global engagement, the Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR) International Programme Office (IPO) participated in the Green Haven Global Public Welfare Project seminar, organized by the World Green Design Organization (WGDO) at its Beijing representative office on February 25, 2025.
The seminar convened key stakeholders from various industries to discuss the Green Haven charity projects and their associated public welfare benefits. Experts from government agencies, enterprises, social organizations, and academic institutions shared insights on models for implementing the initiative, which aims to support women and children in underdeveloped countries and contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Green Haven Project, initiated by WGDO and supported by social organizations and philanthropic individuals from Belgium, China, Norway, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, and other countries, seeks to provide sustainable assistance to disadvantaged women and children worldwide.
Representing IRDR IPO, William Edusei-Mensah contributed to the discussion by emphasizing the importance of South-South collaborations, the opportunities and advantages in Africa, and the need for innovative solutions to address global climate challenges for the collective good. The seminar concluded with a collective call to action, urging stakeholders to support the Green Haven initiative and advance efforts to build a sustainable future for women and children worldwide.
