The Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR) programme is pleased to announce the selection of 15 new members for its Young Scientists Programme (YSP). This sixth cohort was chosen from a highly competitive pool from around the world, following a rigorous and independent evaluation process.

The evaluation process and committee were ratified at the 28th meeting of the IRDR Scientific Committee (SC28) in October 2025. Each member of the evaluation committee independently evaluated all applications based on the criteria outlined in the YSP’s Terms of Reference. The 15 successful candidates demonstrated exceptional promise in the field of disaster risk reduction (DRR) and resilience. The final result reflects IRDR's commitment to geographic and gender diversity, with young researchers hailing from 13 different countries.

IRDR looks forward to supporting these talented early career professionals as they contribute to the programme's mission of promoting transdisciplinary research on disaster risk.

The IRDR YSP was established to promote capacity building of young professionals, to encourage them to undertake innovative and needs-based research that improves DRR research, policy and practice interactions, and to empower them to become future leaders in the global DRR community.

Please join us in welcoming these newest members to the IRDR community!
