Christopher Garimoi Orach

Dr Christopher Garimoi Orach, MBChB, DPH, MMed PH, MPH, PhD is a Medical Doctor and currently Professor of Public Health at the School of Public Health, Makerere University. From 2007 to 2019 he served as Head of the Department of Community Health and Behavioural Sciences, and Deputy Dean of the School of Public Health, Makerere University. 

He served as a member of the Scientific Working Group (SWG) of WHO Centre for Health Development (WHO Kobe Centre- WKC) from October 2021 to October 2023.  He is currently the Chair of Board of Director of a non-governmental organization Canadian Physician for Aids and Relief – Uganda (CPAR-U) since 2018. 

His areas of expertise, teaching and research include the fields of Sexual and Reproductive Health, Refugee Health Services Organization and Health Care, Health Systems, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Climate Change. 

He currently has several ongoing multi country collaborative research projects on Epidemiology of Cholera in Africa, with Johns Hopkins University, and NIH grant - Centre of Research for Disaster (CORD) with Tufts University in USA and a research project on Climate change adaptation and resilience research (CARP) with Arizona and Stellenbosch Universities.
