Yu Lei

Dr. LEI Yu is an expert in mountain hazards, risk assessment, and management. He holds the position of Associate Professor at the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environments within the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Additionally, Dr. Lei serves as the Deputy Director of the China-Pakistan Joint Research Center on Earth Sciences (CPJRC). His prior experience includes a Senior Structural Engineer in Singapore, where he managed and delivered projects across diverse locations including Singapore, Dubai, Qatar, and China. Dr. Lei earned his PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with a specialization in mountain hazards and associated disaster risks. With over a decade of experience in disaster risk research, he had published over 20 papers and hold multiply patens in his field. He has been recognized through his selection into the IRDR Young Scientists Program and the CAS International Talents Program. In addition to his research and professional engagements, Dr. Lei actively contributes to policy-making and strategic planning in disaster mitigation as a committee member of the Urban Safety and Disaster Prevention Committee of the Urban Planning Society of China.
